Pavilion x360 14-cd1033nr
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Howdy, folks.

Just bought a Pavilion x360 (14-cd1033nr), and wondering if the laptop battery can be charged via the USB C port?

Also, if I wanted to do a 'clean', or 'minimal' restore, how would one go about doing that?  In times past (i.e. an old 15t Quad Edition), the recovery offered a minimal restore as a factory reset option.  Wondering if such a thing is possible with this new machine.

Thanks in advance!

No your USB-C ports are data transfer only:

Generally, if the laptop can be charged and powered from a USB-C port HP will provide a USB-C adapter in the box and if not you get a barrel type adapter.

Since Windows 10 is now a free download without the need for a Key Code (google Microsoft Media Creation Tool) you can use a usb thumb drive made from the Media Creation Tool site to do a bare metal reinstall, which is something I tend to do with new laptops myself. You can then install drivers provided by the support page for your laptop on this site and have a clean minimal Windows 10 install.

Understood.  Looking for a magnetic 'break-away' AC adapter.  Can you recommend one, if any exist?

Apple has a patent on that design and I have never seen one for a PC. However, a quick google search turned up this:

Not sure how or how well it works but seems to be an option.

Unfortunately, that's a no go.  It was a crowdfunded project that never happened.  I've seen DIY guides for this sort of thing, but that makes me nervous.  Thanks anyway!
