Hi !

I updated BIOS of my laptop a week a ago and I noticed that my CPU fan is running fast making a lot of noise without any reason. Checked apps running in background nothing's there, kept more than enough room for vents to circulate air, CPU is working at minimum load (10-15% max. just emails, browser etc.), laptop body is cool. With all this, my CPU fan is making noise. This issue started just after I updated my BIOS. My laptop used to be "super quiet" and now it sounds like a jet engine.

I flashed same new BIOS again hoping it would work correctly, but NO CHANGE and now I can't use ROLLBACK feature to get to my old BIOS version.

I want to get to my older BIOS version because it worked just fine.(kind of made a mistake updating it)

I downloaded old version of BIOS from support.hp.com and tried following 3 methods:

1) Opened .exe file of old BIOS version in Win10

Response: [update] option is greyed out.

2) Plugged in BIOS pendrive in laptop and pressed  Win + B + Power(2-3sec.) to enter Recovery mode

     Response: Can't detect flash drive

3) Pressed F2 to open System Diagnostic > Firmware Management > Update BIOS > Select BIOS Image > pendrive.....

Response: The system BIOS update failed. Unable to open BIOS signature file.

None of the above methods worked.

Is HP blocking users from downgrading to older BIOS ?

Is it still possible for me to somehow downgrade to older BIOS version ? Because I can't work on this laptop. Fan noise is very annoying especially when you know there is no load on CPU.

Thanks !
