ENVY x360 Convert 15m-bq021dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi

I have an issue where my ENVY x360 Convert 15m-bq021dx laptop says "plugged in, not charging". I've been trying to resolve this issue for weeks now. I reinstalled the battery drivers, reset the BIOS settings and even purchased a new battery. Unfortunately, none of these solved my issue. I've came to the conclusion that I need to change my CMOS battery (i've found this as a suggestion online) and this is probably the answer because I also get the CMOS reset 502 error when starting my PC. There is one problem, however, I cannot find the CMOS battery in my laptop. Can anyone help me and provide anything that will help resolve my issue?

P.S. My warrenty expired

Thank You

OK so update on this thread:

So after I read on all the responses, I decided to order a new motherboard and see if that would resolve my issue. I then waited for the motherboard to arrive (est. 2 weeks), however i called about 2 weeks after my purchase to see if they shipped it out yet and it turns out they didn't even have it in stock! (i ordered it from empowerlaptop.com and i'm kinda happy i didn't get it because after i placed the order i saw a TON of bad reviews on how they take too long and the motherboards are broken and etc.) So after that i decided to take a break from this issue for like 2 weeks. then a few days ago, i went on ebay to purchase a motherboard and right before i was forced to buy one because i thought that was the last solution,  for some reason i decided to look at the AC adapter (charger) and looked inside the plug that goes into the laptop and saw that the metal piece or rod in the adapter was bent. So i took a pair of tweezers and fixed the plug. It turns out the laptop says PLUGGED IN, CHARGING after 4 months of exhaustion.

So basically, the problem was in the AC adapter this whole time (at least i think)! Even though all the tests said the AC adapter was fine, it wasn't because the middle rod inside was bent.

When i think about it, I should've checked the charger first because it's the easiest and it was not even going in the laptop fully.

However, i am still concerned about my battery. It only lasts about 4 or maybe 5 hours. Is that normal after having a laptop for 2 years? I ordered a battery 2 months ago and because that didn't fix my main issue, i returned it. I'll post a picture of my battery test results below:

I am not 100% sure my issue is fixed. I'll stay updated. Thanks.

No CMOS battery (HP calls it is RTC battery) for your machine from I can see on the following manual

and its parts list

So would you know why i keep getting the CMOS reset 502 error and my laptop says "plugged in not charging"?

HP Recommended

Laptops with an internal battery use it as the CMOS/RTC battery as well as the main power source. So if you have a bad charging circuit on the motherboard and it loses connection to the battery you will get that CMOS reset message since all power has been removed from the motherboard when that happens and your battery is not able to charge because the motherboard is bad hence the "not charging" issue.

So will I need to replace the motherboard or a circuit?

Not too many techs have the skills to replace a single circuit on a laptop motherboard. Generally motherboards are replaced as one part.
