HP Spectre x360 - 15t-df100 CTO
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I plugged my laptop up to charge last night

so that it would be fully charged for work. Just a few hours later, the brick was scalding hot to the touch and had melted! It seems like it charged my laptop to 65%, then stopped and overheated. I'm not sure if this has happened before with this model, but I wanted to report it, as it's a HUGE fire hazard and I now need a replacement. There was no damage to the brick or cord before this. It was plugged directly to a wall outlet which I have used many times before without issue.

From what I see in my perusal of the manuals associated with your laptop model series, your laptop may be around five years since it came to market.

That would also mean that the warranty has expired, so what I state below takes that into account.

You can replace the power adapter with one that matches the power listed , in watts, on the failed one .

From the Maintenance & Service guide  for your laptop model series.

AC adapter:
135-W HP Smart AC adapter (PFC, RC, slim, 4.5-mm) L15534-001
90-W HP Smart AC adapter (PFC, RA, 4.5-mm) 937532-850
