I bought an aftermarket charger for my new 2021 Omen 17t and the tip adapter won't charge it- it's 4.5x3.0mm and wondering if the inside is supposed to be 2.5mm? Cannot find this anywhere and support was not supportive.....

Any help?

@tim3320070

What is your latest Omen 17t ? The tip alone wont work, charger needs communication pin to "talk" with machine. You need a right charger.

Regards.

Are you saying an aftermarket charger will not work with HP laptops?

I am trying to buy a second charger for my laptop for traveling and need to know the proper pin size can you answer that please?

Tim is this ongoing? I had to run to work and only had my 240W SlimQ so I plugged it in and HP disconnected it a few seconds later. The correct tip size is 4.5x3.0mm - and of course all the adapters come with the same pin but it does look like HP's 'Smart Adapter' feature is intentionally disabling compatible chargers from working. You can test this by turning the laptop off and watching it charge just fine

There's zero change imi going to bring a power brick the size of a mac mini to get 15 minutes of work done onsite. No reason at all HP would forcibly disable this other than anti-competitive measures

Is the tip 4.5x3.0?
