Victus by HP 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop 15-fa1000 (8B486AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

I have a HP Victus 15-fa1161TX 15.6inch gaming laptop. Today I bought a HP usb-c dock G5 docking station.

The docking station is connected to my usb-c port but I have not been able to get the laptop to charge using the docking station when connected in this way. My understanding is that the HP docking station can charge my HP-Victus laptop. Is this correct? If yes, can you please let me know how to do this?

Thanks for your help,

Tony

Hi @Tony_DV,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The HP USB-C G5 Docking Station is designed to charge compatible laptops through the USB-C connection. However, there are a few things to check if your HP Victus 15 isn't charging through the dock.

  • Check Compatibility: Verify that your HP Victus 15 supports charging through USB-C. Not all laptops with USB-C ports support charging through this port.
  • Power Supply: Ensure that the docking station is properly connected to a power source and that the power adapter is functioning correctly. The dock needs to be connected to a wall outlet for it to supply power to your laptop.
  • Correct Port: Make sure you're using the correct USB-C port on the docking station for charging. Some docks have multiple USB-C ports, but only one might support power delivery.
  • Firmware and Drivers: Check if your laptop's BIOS and USB-C drivers are up to date. Sometimes, outdated firmware or drivers can cause charging issues.
  • Docking Station Settings: Some docking stations have settings or firmware updates that need to be applied. Check the HP support site for any firmware updates or settings adjustments required for the G5 Docking Station.
  • Cable Quality: Ensure that the USB-C cable used to connect the docking station to the laptop is of high quality and supports power delivery. Some cables only support data transfer and may not handle charging.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
