The screen on my chrome book has gone black, but the notebook is running. I hooked the computer to my tv using hdmi and I’m able to see the blurry background but no place to log in. I’ve tried resetting it using Ctrl, alt, shift, and R but nothing happens. Pls help.

Welcome to HP Forums,
This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,
Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂
I see that you're experiencing an issue with the black display screen on your Chromebook 14. I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue. Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:
- When was the last time it worked fine?
- Have you made any hardware/software changes?
- Did this happen after a recent software update?
- Are you getting any error message or code?
While you respond to that, I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:
Let's perform Perform a hard reset :
Note: Remove all connected external devices,
-
Press the power button
and refresh
button for five seconds. The computer turns off, and then turns on again. -
If necessary, press power button again to turn on the laptop.
If the issue persists, continue to the next step.
Performing a system recovery:
If a hard reset does not resolve your issue, you might need to perform a system recovery. For detailed instructions go to Chromebook Help Center and search for Recover your Chromebook.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
If I have helped you resolve the issue, feel free to give me a virtual high-five by clicking the 'Thumbs Up' icon below,
