Hi, I had specific settings that I adjusted my ClickPad to, but when I reinstalled Windows on this machine, the software that let me customize how I control it disappeared. I have tried reinstalling the driver and searching the supprt page for the correct driver, and still no luck. Any help is appriciated.

Thanks,

Clayton

Hi,

Thanks for your help. I just briefly tried the steps you gave me, and they do not seem to be working. The additional settings is still missing the Synaptics menu

The product number is 5DT11UA#ABA

Thanks,

@Baseballf92LBK,

Let's try these steps here:

Let's try uninstalling the Touchpad driver:

1. Press Windows+X to open the menu, and choose Device Manager on it.

2. In the device manager, expand category "Mice and other pointing devices".

3. Under this category, right click on your Synaptics Touchpad driver and click on Uninstall.

4. You may be required to confirm the uninstallation. Check the box next to "Delete the driver software for this device" and click OK button.

5. Restart your PC for the change to take effect. After restarting. Windows will attempt to reinstall the driver.

6. Do not perform any manual upgrades to the driver until it does automatically

If the issue persists, I would suggest here is to run the Windows update troubleshooter.

Download and install the troubleshooter from this link.

Now try to perform Windows Updates -

1) In the search box, type and open Windows Updates.
2) Check for updates.
3) If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.

If the issue still persists, I would suggest here is to update the Bios on your computer from  HP Support Assistant Updates -

1) In the search box, type and open HP Support Assistant.
2) Check for updates.
3) If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.

Let me know how it goes for further assistance!

Please click “Accept as Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.

Click the “Kudos, Thumbs Up" on the bottom right to say “Thanks” for helping!

Hi,

I was attempting to follow your steps, but I noticed that during the deletion of the driver software, the following screens occur after restart. The Windows update troubleshooter and HP Support assistant did not have any further updates to install

@Baseballf92LBK,

According to the error code 10: The device cannot start (for example, it is missing or is not working properly). This message can vary greatly because the text for this message can come from the driver.

To resolve this error code, make sure the device is attached to the computer correctly. For example, make sure all cables are connected firmly and that all adapter cards are inserted into their slots fully.

Follow the suggested solution button and update the device driver. It might be possible to remove the device and re-detect it automatically.

If the issue persists, as suggested please run a test on the touchpad from F2.

1. Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.

2. Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second. When the menu appears, press the F2 key.

3. On the main menu, click Component Tests

4. Select Mouse/Touchpad and run the test.

Let me know the outcome!

Thank you 🙂
