Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Looking for solution to connect two monitors to a HP Pavilion 15-cd040wm laptop. I have tried a variety of options and understand the limitations of the USB-C port.  Looking for help to determine what kind of adapter I need for getting both monitors to connect.

HDMI splitter is not a good option for my situation (need two monitors 'extended' so I can show different content on each, not duplicated).

Yes your USB-C port is data transfer only so it is really no different than the regular rectangular USB 3.1 ports. You have an HDMI port which will drive one monitor and you need a dock or adapter with DisplayLink technology that will provide a video signal over a USB connection.

Thank you for the information.

What about this instead?

Alternatively, I already have two of these (see below) from a previous laptop/monitors setup.  Looks like I would need a displayport to USB3 adaptor of some sort possibly.  Not sure if multiple adaptors will work?

Just thinking through other possible options before spending $90, as I do not need all of the extra ports on the docking station.

Thank you.

Yes the Plugable thing is just a single port device using Displaylink and would work. Drive one monitor from a usb port with that adapter and another from the native HDMI port.

Since you do not have a displayport on the laptop the DP to HDMI is not going to do you much good.
