I purchased this laptop in the fall of 2016. A couple of months ago a crack began to appear next to the hinge, above the start up switch. I have never abused this laptop and am puzzled by what has caused this worsening crack. What can I do?

I reviewed your post and I understand that you are facing issues with the hinge on the computer.
Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.
I recommend you contact support and they will assist you with the available service options for your computer.
Here is how you can get in touch with support.
1)Click on this link – www.hp.com/contacthp/
2)Select the product type.
3)Enter the serial number of your device or select let HP detect your product option.
4)Select the country from the drop-down.
5)You should see the HP phone support number or Chat option listed.
Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

Hi,
The only response I was able to get was the message that my warranty had expired. While this is true, I believe this issue is an obvious product defect and I was hopeful that HP might have a recall type repair available. If this is not possible, then I at least would like to know where in my city of Calgary I might be able to have it repaired at my expense. It would be a shame for this laptop to eventually become unusable should the crack worsen.
Thank you for your help,
Mike
