Yes but you want to put an SSD inside the laptop and the hard drive in the optical bay if you choose to go that way. SSD is usually not bootable in an optical drive bay and may run slower than it would in the main 2.5 inch bay. You also very likely have an M.2 SSD slot to add an SSD to the existing hard drive inside the laptop. Post back if you really want to proceed with doing this and we can provide detailed instructions.
