Issue: On startup, I get message "Update BIOS failed"

There are times that I encounter this message, and there are times, none. So, it's unpredictable when it will appear, so it's difficult for me to replicate the case and take a photo of it.

HP Support is not very helpful. It's very inconvenient to ask for support. Also, very tedious to keep exchanging unclear instructions, taking screenshots, going back and forth. It's very slow, and inefficient. And not to mention, it's so hard to reach for help. And they just only can be contacted by WhatsApp and it looks like they have no means to make contact via email. It's so frustating. Everytime I look for support, I just always end up impatient, disappointed, and dissatisfied.

Anyway, I hope HP Support at least have Remote Assistance tool to make things easier. Thanks.

P.s. so I was in contact with an HP agent via WhatsApp and no one is responding to me there. I was left in limbo.. as always.
Poor Customer Service as always.

Usually when a bios update fails, the motherboard is useless and needs to be replaced.  You are actually lucky you received that message

It is always dangerous to upgrade bios. Unless there is a real need and the HP support assistant requests the upgrade, I would not do it. Look at the BIOS revision history and see if an upgrade is useful. Updates that improve security are needed in a corporate environment but for gaming system they will likely slow down your system.
I personally would not upgrade any gaming BIOS that was only security related unless the PC was used in a corporate, industrial or military organization.

It is possible that a Microsoft Windows update attempted to upgrade the BIOS and is stuck in a loop attempting the update as the bios is possibly the wrong bios.

I recommend that you back up important documents and reset to HP factory software.

Cloud recovery provides all the custom HP drivers.

Given your experience with HP support over WhatsApp, I understand the frustration—effective assistance should be seamless and accessible. For BIOS update issues, especially intermittent errors like this, it's essential to ensure that no conflicting updates are queued, particularly from Windows updates, which can sometimes trigger unintended BIOS actions.

One approach to consider is disabling automatic updates for a period, allowing you to observe if the issue persists. Additionally, backing up critical files and creating a recovery USB is crucial. As an expert in digital compliance and tech solutions, I recommend verifying your HP product’s BIOS requirements and consulting the BIOS revision history to determine if updates are beneficial for your specific usage needs.

If you're still facing issues, it may be worth pushing for alternative contact options with HP support—though WhatsApp is convenient, real-time support or a dedicated email channel would indeed improve their service. Hopefully, this helps clarify your next steps and options!
