I bought a new laptop a while back, and from the start, the fan has been acting up – constantly starting and stopping even under light loads. Not only does this affect performance, but it also makes this specific sound that's incredibly irritating and distracting. I tried troubleshooting it myself and even reached out to chat support, but nothing worked. Since this is my work laptop, I couldn’t afford to send it in for a fan replacement at the time.

Unfortunately, in the meantime, I accidentally cracked the display by hitting it with my phone. Now the support team is telling me that my warranty is void because of the crack, and they can’t replace the fan anymore. How does a small crack in the middle of the screen – clearly not caused by dropping the laptop – void the warranty for other components, especially the fan, which started malfunctioning long before the crack even happened?

I’ve been a loyal HP customer for more than 10 years, and I've always had great experiences with their products and support, which is one of the main reasons I kept buying HP machines. But this situation is incredibly frustrating and disappointing.

Yes and no which is depending on how the crack came in the first place.

Regards.

Dear Banhien,

Thabk you for your response. So who could assess if my warranty is still valid?
