Hi there, I have a HP Envy Notebook 17-n152na and I have taken the back off of it, I can see there's some form of m.2. drive slot and I want to make use of it, only problem I'm finding is that this slot isn't mentioned anywhere on the user manual https://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04768272.pdf and the only other thing i can find is this link https://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04696907.pdf which is also on the HP support page, this does mention 1-TB + 256 GB M.2 SATA SSD (TLC) but when i look at these online they have 3 prong connectors and the slot on my actual notebook only has 2 so i don't think this is the right thing, all i want to know is does it support m.2 and what type do i need to get if it does, thank you in advance for anyone who can help : )

Hi:
According to chapter 1 of the service manual, only SATA M.2 SSD's are supported, not NVMe.
All M.2 slots in HP notebook and desktop PC's only have one key in the slot.
Both one notch and two notch M.2 drives will fit in the slot but only a SATA drive will work.
The second notch in the SATA drive just doesn't make contact with the pins in the M.2 slot.
Nothing will obstruct it from fitting.
If you look at the part number for the 512 GB M.2 SATA SSD listed in chapter 3 of the service manual, this is what it looks like:
814224-001 - 512GB M.2 2280 SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Drive - Drive Solutions
Something like the Western Digital Blue SA510 M.2 drive.

Perfect, thank you very much for the speedy reply! I wasn't sure about the one/two notch i was seeing, after having a look i would most likely be getting this one - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Fikwot-FN203-256GB-M-2-SATA/dp/B0C3ZL867L/ref=sr_1_5?crid=KD1S86VG3G9F&dib=... Do you see any issues with this? It is sata like you have mentioned, thanks in advance : )

Hi, I have the same laptop/notebook with same model number and i am struggling to get a ssd to work alongside the 1tb hdd.
I purchased the Fikwot 203 ssd as linked in the thread from amazon. I cannot get the laptop either through device manager to see the drive, nor does it appear in bios.
Can anyone please confirm that they have successfully installed a second hard drive in the way of an ssd.
I wish to clone the O/S from the existing western digital 1TB mechanical drive to a SSD in the m.2 slot that is alongside and then use the old WD drive for storage. The manual is somewhat confusing, and my conclusion is that you can run 1TB with 256ssd as a dual.
It seems to me that you can only run either both as SSD or just the 1TB as the m.2 does not seem to populate?
any advice or how to on this would be of a great help. I am in the UK by the way so we are somewhat limited to resources as opposed to the states.
