Does the motherboard support NVMe

Hello, I have a HP 250 G7 Notebook laptop PC

I want to get rid of the integrated 1TB hard drive and use a 512 or 1TB M.2 NVMe SSD

Does the motherboard support NVMe?
Can the motherboard boot from an NVMe drive?
Can I use a Heatsink and how big?
What is the size of that M.2 slot? 2230, 2242, 2260, 2280 or 22110?
Does it support Gen3x4?
Why does Speccy say it is "In Use", it should be empty, is there anything else that could had been installed there?
Would WD SSD BLACK SN750 1Tb M.2 2280 NVMe Read/Write: 3470 / 3000 MB/s, 515k/560k IOPS, TBW 600TB Heatsink fit and work for the machine for an example?

Solid and honest feedback on the main problem of this machine: It overheats. It overhears A LOT. Current CPU temperature is 83°C. But that is not related to the questions, that's just feedback for HP to keep in mind and fix in future machines.

Hi:

The only questions I can answer for you are:

The 250 G7's motherboard supports NVMe drives.

You can use a NVMe drive as the boot drive.

The size is M.2 2280.

Below is the link to the service manual.  The supported drive types can be found in chapter 1 on page 2.

The drive sizes mentioned in the manual are just what HP offered, I assume.

If you look at the Crucial memory/SSD report for the 250 G7, they have compatible M.2 SSD's up to 2 TB.

According to the manual, the motherboard supports

PCIe, NVMe, M.2 solid-state drives 512 GB

And according to the crucial link, they suggest me 2TB ssd:

So will 1TB, 2TB work or only up to 512 GB?

Crucial says a 1 or 2 TB NVMe SSD will work.

As I wrote earlier, those sizes are just what HP offered in the model series, not what the maximum size the slot can support.
