Product: HP Stream 11
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

About a month ago I plugged a 4TB WD Passport external hard drive in my notebook and it showed up just fine. Now I plug it in and while the device manager recognizes it, it doesn't show up in My Computer so I can access it. What do I need to do?

If your WD 4TB Passport external hard drive is not an externally powered device, that may be the issue.

 

 

You may be able to get the passport to work if you use a  dual USB connector to plug the Passport into the Stream 11 while it is connected to its delivered power adaptor.

When you plugged the Passport drive in was it self powered? 

 

Was the Stream 11 connected to the power adapter?

 

It is all about power and capability. The Stream 11 just barely fits in the category of a notebook that it is quite easy to inadvertently damage the circuits and traces on its system board.
