Hi,

Yes, the drive will work at full speed.

Just remember that it's a 5400rpm mechanical HDD so it's not going to have the same performance as, for example, a 500Gb 7200rpm drive - there's a trade off in terms of speed for the high storage capacity.

Will the new drive work at its full speed or downgrade to the limits of the motherboard chips? I don't know anything about these new drives.

Seagate 1TB Gaming SSHD SATA 8GB NAND SATA 6Gb/s 2.5-Inch Internal Bare Drive (ST1000LM014)

How about this one.  Is it ok to use a gaming drive?

HP Recommended

Hi,

Yes, the hybrid drive you mention above will be fine.  You'll get better boot times and faster access to frequently used files as these are cached to the faster ssd memory.  Gaming is more dependent on ram and graphics chip performance than it is on the speed of the storage drive, however you should get better initial load times.

 1TB SATA 3.0 Laptop 2.5-Inch Internal Hard Drive (STBD1000100)

I'm not sure about the reliability of the sshd drives so I'm thinking about a standard HDD.

Will this sata 3.0 drive work at 3.0 speeds in my laptop.

Any thoughts on the sshd drives?
