Hi @Skumar12
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're experiencing excessive fan noise from your HP laptop or desktop, here are some potential causes and troubleshooting steps:
1. Check for Dust Buildup
- Cleaning: Dust can accumulate in the vents and on the fan, leading to increased noise. Use compressed air to carefully clean out the vents and fan area. Make sure the device is powered off and unplugged.
2. Ventilation
- Ensure Proper Airflow: Make sure the computer is on a hard, flat surface. Avoid using it on soft surfaces like beds or couches, as they can block airflow.
3. Check for Background Processes
- Task Manager: Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) and check for processes that may be using excessive CPU resources. High CPU usage can cause the fan to run loudly. End any unnecessary processes.
4. Update Drivers
- Drivers and BIOS: Ensure that your device drivers, especially graphics and chipset drivers, are up to date. Also, check for BIOS updates on the HP support website.
5. Power Settings
- Adjust Power Plan: Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options. Choose a power plan that optimizes for energy savings, which can help reduce fan noise.
6. Check for Overheating
- Monitor Temperatures: Use software like HWMonitor or Core Temp to check the internal temperatures. If the laptop is overheating, it will cause the fans to work harder.
7. Run HP Diagnostics
- Built-in Diagnostics: Use HP’s built-in diagnostic tools to check for hardware issues. Restart the computer and press F2 when the HP logo appears to access the diagnostics menu.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
