Elitebook 1040 G3
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello everyone,

the fan of my Elitebook 1040 G3 is making strange things. It is often ramping up and down (one cycle takes around one second), even when I use it just normally (e.g. working on a word document). The constant change in noise is really annoying when working.

The problem does not always exist. Sometimes it is just running fine.

A similar problem has been described some years ago in this forum (https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebooks-Archive-Read-Only/HP-Probook-650-G2-Fan-is-constantly-rampin...). I have updated the bios but no improvement.

Any ideas what might help? Nothing against a running fan, but please at constant speed 🙂

Thanks for any ideas!

Best,

Philipp
