Hello, my laptop's fans don't turn on automatically whenever it gets too warm sometimes. This started happening during the beginning of May.

I found out that shutting down the laptop and turning it back on would temporarily fix the problem. When the laptop turns back on after shutting down, the fans kick in immediately at full force. Restarting it doesn't fix the problem. Sometimes the problem will come back a week after shutting it down and sometimes the problem would come back on the same day that I fixed it.

I know that this isn't normal behavior because when I open a game I normally play, the fans usually turn on right away. When the fans don't turn on and my laptop becomes excessively warm, I know that the problem is back.

I'm up to date on my Windows updates. My BIOS version is F.15 and I saw that there's a new update (F.18) in the HP Support Assistant but I haven't tried updating yet.

I saw this post earlier where someone had a similar problem with an HP Envy 13 x360, and they said that they ended up having to replace their heatsink and/or fans. https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Envy-x360-fan-not-turning-on-1...

I thought my problem would be related to software since shutting it down temporarily fixes the problem. Someone told me to check if the root of the problem could be an application that I installed, but I didn't download anything new when the problem first started happening. Could someone help me diagnose this problem? Thanks!

I updated my BIOS to F.18 last night and the problem happened again just now.
