I have a HP Pavillion G6-2249WM laptop With AMD A-6 4400M 2.70ghz processor and 8GB Ram. I now have a Ralink RT-3290 802.11 bgn WiFi adapter. UNITED STATES
I want to upgrade the WiFi adapter to a dual band 802.11 abgn2.4ghz/5.0ghz card.
I have 200mps internet, and I cannot connect at 5G. I searched the forums, and got very conflicting information. The Service Manual states I should be able to install P/N 602993-001 Realtek 8188C8 abgn 2x2 wifi and Bluetooth 3.0 HS combo adapter, however, in other replies it states this will not connect to 5G.
Can you tell me which wifi adapter to upgrade to? Will I have to upgrade the Motherboard or the BIOS to make it work?

Your machine was built late 2012 therefore the chance to upgrade wifi card is from very slim to none. I don't know which manual you are talking about but manual for your machine only shows 3 compatible parts (page 49 of the first manual on the following link, none of them can use for 5GHz)
Option: Use USB wireless card such as:
