HP OMEN Laptop - 15-en0008na
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

There is a grinding/crackling sound that starts to happen once I load up a particular game I own (Apex legends) and start playing. It seems to happen on high resource-demanding games, as on my other less-demanding games there is no noise.

The noise gets louder and faster when the game starts up and the fans pick up.

I notice that if I place the laptop on the desk on it owns there is no noise, but as soon as it is in it's propped up position on a laptop stand the noise begins.

I have run quick and extensive diagnostics tests in the UEFI menu on the fans, storage and memory and they all passed.

I have recently updated to the latest BIOS and the noise still happens.

Any advice would be appreciated.

@Chiji

Two things imply this is a fan problem -- that it happens when the games cause the fan to spin up, and that it happens when the laptop is propped up.

That being the case, you need to get the fan replaced and such repairs can be very difficult and risky to perform, depending on how much stuff has to be removed in order to get to the fan to replace it.

For such repair estimates, you would need to contact an HP Repair or Service Center.

Since you live outside the U.S., here is a link to HP Service Centers, by Country/Region: https://support.hp.com/in-en/service-center

If that link does not provide useful information, use the main HP link:

Thank you very much for your reply and suggestion.

I live in the UK, and after checking both links under the service repair sections, I couldn't seem to find a service centre that fixes laptops or notebooks.

I shall contact HP support tomorrow to find out more.

Best regards.

Sorry I could not provide more info -- but that link is the only one HP provides us -- even though I have complained about it being all but useless.
