Hello,
I need to get an HDD replacement for a friend who has Pavillon Notebook 15-p287nd, because crystaldiskinfo started detecting reallocated sector count, it says "caution". Actually we don't know how long it has been this way since we just checked it yesterday.
Can we install any 2.5inches HDD or SSD on it? Does it have a m.2 slot? Also could you tell us how many 2.5 inch disks can we fit in there.
thanks

Hi:
That model does have a M.2 slot, but you have to remove the motherboard to get to where the slot is located, and you can replace the existing 2.5" disk with any compatible one.
Since the M.2 slot only supports SATA M.2 drives, there is no advantage to installing a SATA M.2 SSD over a standard 2.5" SATA SSD.
If your friend doesn't need a lot of drive space, upgrading to a solid state drive would be the way to go.
In my opinion this one provides the best performance for the price. This is the 500 GB model...
Below is the link to the service manual for the model series...
