Hello,
I am thinking of buying the HP 15-db0180nd or the HP 15-db0170nd (only difference between them being the AMD Ryzen processor and M.2 SSD storage) but 128GB/256GB M.2 SSD (depending on the model) is a bit too small. Thats why I want to upgrade the storage with a 1TB HDD SATA but after a while of research on the internet i couldnt find anything if i am actually able to upgrade.
my specific question is: do these laptops have a SATA connection and the space inside them to put in a HDD? if they do, could anyone make a picture? i also want to know if these laptops come with the mounting brackets for the HDD inside them.

Hi,
I believe you are talking about the db0180nd and the db0170nd
So The db0180nd has the PCIe NVMe SSD
They are both from the same series and will have the same compatibility.
So, the first choice would be to replace the M2 SSD with a higher capacity SSD (no limit), something like the Samsung 970 Evo Plus or similar
On page 47of service manual you can see the steps to install drive
You can also insert a 2.5" HDD or SSD, however, you will need to purchase
Hard drive bracket part number L20455-001 (you could probably use some strong double-sided tape instead)
Hard drive connector board part number L20454-001
You can find in HP parts store
or HP reseller
On page 51 of the service manual, you can see the steps to install the HDD connector board and on page 45 how to install drive.

oh woops i just noticed the typo :D.
yep i was refering to the HP 15-db0170nd and the db0180nd.
Based off what you said im asuming the hard drive brackets dont come with the laptop or am i wrong? do i really have to buy those seperately? (and yes i'm planning to insert a 2,5" 1TB HDD)
thanks for the help 😄

You're welcome.
Yes the parts will not be in the PC and will need to be bought. You could take a look inside the notebook before purchasing a new drive.
You can always upgrade the M2 drive later.
Regards,
David
