Hello Surferjoe2

Jogi here.

Your CPU supports PCI version 3.0.

So, you could open the case of our laptop and see if there is a m.2 slot.

And then you know that your laptop will support m.2 ssds up to pci version 3.

If not, and you have a 2,5"-slot, you could replace your hdd with a ssd.

And also there 1TB and more would be supported, but more isnt always the best solution, it depends on your requirements.

I have a 512 GB M.2, 64 GB Micro-SD and a free dropbox and absolute fine with it.

.

PS. I would suggest an upgrade of your network card, if its the one you can see in the list under wifi:

https://support.hp.com/hk-en/document/c06632887

Because this Realtek card supports only ~460 Mbps.

A more modern one, e.g. by Intel, would speeden up WiFi to max. 2400Mbps.

Sincerely

Jogi.

Hi, @surferjoe2

The parts list for your notebook indicates that it comes with a 512 GB NVMe SSD, not a SATA SSD.

HP PartSurfer

HP only has the service manual for the older 17-cn1xxx model series on your notebook's support page.

HP 17.3 inch Laptop PC 17-c3000 Manuals | HP® Customer Support

According to chapter 1 of the manual, there is only support for one M.2 SSD.

Chapter 5, page 37 has a line drawing of the M.2 SSD location which is to the right of the battery.

So, if you want to install a 1 TB NVMe SSD, you will need to remove the 512 GB M.2 NVMe SSD and install a 1 TB NVMe SSD.
