HP 3005pr
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Devices: HP ProBook 4540s, 430 G2, Spectre x360, HP 3005pr

Software: Windows 10

Hi,

I am trying to install the driver for the 3005pr on Windows 10 and the driver download page does not have one for it yet. I tried installing the W8.1 driver but it keeps saying that a previous uninstall has not yet finished. I remember encountering that prompt when I tried to install a W7 driver to a W8.1 PC.

I have tried installing just the DisplayLink core software version 7.9 from the DisplayLink site and it seemed to work as the the display was projected to different displays without any problems, as far as I know, and that the HP Port Replicator icon is shown on the right-hand side of the taskbar. The software from DisplayLink has some known issues though and I would really like to know if there is a better install method.

The DisplayLink solution is similar to the one posted here:

(http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware/Does-the-HP-3005pr-USB-3-replicator-already-support-W... ...but the software is for Windows 10:

I have also tried using Window's compatibility mode but to no avail.

Does anyone have another workaround in installing the driver for the HP 3005pr port replilcator aside from the one that I mentioned?

Thanks,

Update: I followed these instructions (http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/insider/wiki/insider_wintp-insider_devices/how-to-install-and-upd... and was able to get the updated Displaylink directly from Windows Update. The driver version is 7.9.376.0 and somehow I was able to get the display to show up on the second screen.

It is has a few issues though:

  1. After plugging out the USB 3.0 connection to from a PC (Spectre X360), the sound card gets disabled, as advised by displaylink themselves (http://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/525125);
  2. Random judders of keyboard and mouse are evident, where the mouse would just not respond and;
  3. The second screen would shut down completely when, somehow, more tasks are performed simultaneously. Although, more testing is needed to confirm this. After this, even when the display is switched to the 2nd screen only from Windows, no movement is observed.

I then had to uninstall the driver.

Does anyone know the time time frame of the release of the official HP driver for this product?

Thanks,

Hello there,

just came across this entry; should anyone else need an answer: I just tried the version 7.9 from

http://www.displaylink.com/downloads/windows

which worked perfectly.

Good luck, Kai, HP Germany
