Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8.1 (32-bit)

Hello all, I have issue with battery or adapter. I do not know but notebook is not running without cable. And if I run HP Battery check, status of battery Unknown and with message: Primary Battery. HP Battery Check was unable to access the battery. Please shut down the PC and reinsert the battery and AC Adapter. If this does not correct the problem, pls verify that you are using the latest version of HP Battery Check and the lates BIOS version. (See HP Support Assistant or check on ww.hp.com for info on sfw updates). What is bad ? Is adapter bad ? Is battery bad ? A new battery is needed ? Pls advice what needs to be done. Thank you.
