I just came across an HP Compaq laptop nx 6125 when clearing the loft. Interested to see if I can get it to work after all this time.
But I cannot even lift the lid!
It has taken a bit of a battering (at this point) while in the loft and there is only an empty slot, about 20cm wide x 2 ml height, where you might expect an opening button.
Just curious but grateful for any advice/ideas.
Thank you.

You're very welcome.
That latch probably releases two catches to the right and left of that hole where the release should have been.
Unfortunately I have no idea what you can do about it unless you can run a thin paper clip inside the hole and push it to the right to simulate moving the latch to the right.

Hi:
There should be a sliding latch on the middle of the front edge of the display panel.
If it is not there, then it must have been broken off and the lid is locked in the closed position.
Here is an actual picture of a closed nx6125 and you can see the latch on the front that you slide to the right to open.

Thanks for taking the time to reply, Paul.
I would expect a latch of the type you describe but there is nothing - just an empty hole.
I don't suppose you have any ideas as to how to progress?!
Thank you for your help.

Sliding the paper clip worked in about 20 seconds.
Thanks to you, that must be the speediest, successful solution on these boards.
Thank you for the effort you put in, for your rapid replies and your ingenuity.
You are a star, Paul.
Thank you very much.
