Hello Sicu,
Thank you for posting your concern,
HP Elite x2 G4 Keyboard Issue
If your HP Elite x2 G4's keyboard is not working and you observe a blinking white light on the keycaps, along with broken plastic pins, it is likely that the connection between the keyboard and the tablet is compromised. Here are some suggestions to address the issue:
-
Inspect the Keyboard Connection:
- Examine the connection pins and ensure that they are not damaged or bent, even though two plastic pins are broken. The plastic pins typically help align the connection, but the physical connection is made via the metal pins.
-
Check for Magnetic Connection:
- The keyboard attaches to the tablet using magnetic adhesion. Even if the plastic alignment pins are broken, the magnetic strength and metal pins are primarily responsible for maintaining a secure connection.
-
Reattach the Keyboard:
- Detach and reattach the keyboard to the tablet to ensure that the connection is secure. Align the keyboard as neatly as possible to allow the metal pins to fit snugly into the port.
-
Check for Driver Issues:
- Ensure that your system is running the latest drivers. You can do this by visiting the HP Support page, entering your device information, and downloading any updates.
-
Perform a Hard Reset:
- Disconnect the tablet and the keyboard. Press and hold the power button on the tablet for about 15 seconds to discharge any residual power. Reconnect the keyboard and power the device back on.
-
Professional Repair or Replacement:
- If the pins are bent or broken to the point where a connection cannot be made, or if these steps do not resolve the issue, you may need to consider getting a professional repair or replacing the keyboard.
Broken alignment pins may not be the direct cause of the connection problem unless they prevent the metal pins from making contact. However, if the physical connection is otherwise unhindered, look into driver issues or system setting errors as potential culprits. If you're unable to fix the issue, contacting HP Support for repairs or a replacement keyboard might be necessary.
