Hello everyone , I want to upgrade my old HP EliteBook 8470p laptop to the best compatible processor , I did some research and found the i7-3740QM processor was the best and compatible these are my sources

At your risk. The Manual says the i7-3540M is the tops for the 8470p. The tops for the 8470w workstation is actually the i7-3840QM. The "p" and "w" models use different motherboards but all use the QM77 chipset. But you have an old thread there that seems to say you can do what you want to do. Good luck.
