This seems to be a common issue, but I have not found a resolution posted (only private responses). Similar to the other posts, my screen is coming apart at the bottom left by the hinge of the computer. I didn’t drop the computer, and it was fine yesterday. I simply tried to open it as I always do, heard a click, and then couldn’t open it any further. Upon examining the defect, I found a loose screw behind the screen. This laptop is barely ever used, and it should not be falling apart like this. Even after removing the screw, the laptop no longer opens or closes properly.
Considering the multitude of posts on this issue, it seems as though this may be a manufacturing defect. I’m wondering if HP can repair this, as it seems unreasonable for this to happen to so many laptops with regular to little usage.
