HP ENVY - 17t-bw000 CTO
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

A few days ago I noticed the fan was making a lot of noise. I also noticed the case was hotter than usual.  When I first got the computer in December 2018 I was really pleased with how  much quieter it was than my DV8t. Now the DV8t  is the winner. From the internet I tried a couple of tweeks but nothing helped. Since it is still in warrenty opening the case to check for dust is not possible. I am now receiving the dreaded 90B error message. The last 2 win 10 updates were security updates which should not have caused this.

I checked : No software or driver downloads available from HP through Support Assistant.

BIOS is F.22

Windows 10 home updated through 5/15

Any ideas out there? It is hard to do much testing when the computer cannot be allowed to run more than a few (very few) minutes.

@mksinnc,

Thank you for posting your query on HP Community,

This could be a possible hardware failure, however, I would suggest you try these steps here before confirming this to be a hardware failure.

Let's start off by updating the Bios on your computer from our HP support website, using this link. Once done, restart the computer and check if it gets fixed.

If the issue persists, I would suggest here is to run an extensive test from F2(Please capture the failure ID for further assistance).

1. Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.

2. Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second.

When the menu appears, press the F2 key.

3. On the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI) main menu, click System Tests.

4. Click Extensive Test.

5. Click Run once, or Loop until error.

While the test is running, the time remaining and test result for each component are

shown on the screen.

6. If a component fails a test, write down the failure ID (24-digit code) so you have it

available when you contact HP Customer Support. The information is also available in

Test Logs on the main menu.
