Microsoft Windows 11

My laptop fan runs VERY loudly and quite often. Even though it is VERY cool - cold to the touch.

I updated all of my drivers, including BIOS.

I tried using HP Command Center to set System Control > Device Mode to Quiet.

I have the power setting to Balanced. I'll change it to Best power efficiency, but I don't expect that to help.

I could understand the fan running somewhat fast when the unit warms up, but it's stone cold. It seems like it's just triggering off of the CPU frequency instead of the temperature. Why such a loud fan HP?

Hi@Dave-27502,

Welcome to the HP Support Community! I'd like to help!

I see you are experiencing Fan Issues with the HP Envy Laptop.

I have a few recommendations

  • Update your Notebook computer to latest BIOS from HP.COM.
  • Make sure the Windows and HP support assistant updates are up to date.

If the issue still persists then it could be a hardware issue on the PC.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
