Envy 17-ce0xxx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I bought an HP Envy laptop 128GB SSD (in July 2019) and my C:// memory is running very low with my programs (Windows, MS Word and a few other important programs).

Can I upgrade my SSD Drive to 512GB?  I called the HP tech support - they couldn't help me much as they only 'fix problems'  - since mine wasn't a problem they referred me to the Shopping team.  The shopping team politely replied that they don't have any products to sell for my upgrade requirement.  Also if I decided to upgrade it using a third-party vendor and service tech, then I run the risk of voiding my 1-year manufacturers' warranty!  So I am stuck between a hard rock and a stone!

Could anyone out there help me?  Thanks!

Hi:

What is the product number of your notebook?

Use this guide to find that information...

Thanks Paul for your reply.  The Pdt # is 6GH99UA#ABL.

You're very welcome.

Below is the link to the Crucial memory/SSD report for your notebook.

https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/compatible-upgrade-for/HP-Compaq/envy-17-ce0003ca

According to the report, you can upgrade to a 1 TB M.2 SSD

Your notebook's specs don't specify what type of M.2 SSD it has.

It could be SATA or NVMe as according to the report, the slot accepts either, though it appears the SSD you have in there is SATA, since there is only one part number listed for a 128 GB M.2 SSD...see chapter 3, page 16, and that is what the parts list for your model indicates the part number is.

NVMe drives are much faster than SATA, but they reduce the time between battery charges according to this article.

As far as the warranty...we are not authorized to speak on behalf of HP regarding the specific terms, but generally we have found that you will not void the warranty as long as you don't break anything in the process of disassembling/reassembling your notebook, or ignore any 'warranty void if seal broken' labels on the PC.

Thanks very much for your help and advice.  Will check this out with the stores to see if they have a similar product compatible with my Envy laptop.
