HP ENVY x360 15.6 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 15-ew1000 (794C0AV)

Hello, HP Support Team & Community,

I own an HP Envy x360 15.6-inch 2-in-1 laptop, which I purchased in October 2023. Despite careful handling and normal use, the left hinge failed, ultimately cracking my screen. I have come across many posts from other users experiencing the same hinge defect, indicating a design flaw rather than user damage.

Details of My Issue:

  • Laptop Model: HP Envy x360 15.6-inch 2-in-1 (7F5R0UA#ABA)
  • Purchase Date: October 2023
  • Warranty Status: Expired
  • Issue: Left hinge failed under normal use → screen cracked as a result
  • Laptop Condition: Well-maintained, no drops or accidents
  • Other Reports: I found multiple HP Community posts where users describe the same hinge failure

What I’m Asking:

Since this appears to be a common design flaw, I’d like to know:

  1. Does HP acknowledge this hinge issue as a known defect?
  2. Can HP offer any repair assistance despite the expired warranty?
  3. Has HP issued a recall or free repair program for this problem?

This situation is frustrating because I invested in an HP Envy laptop expecting quality and durability, and it appears that the hinge design is faulty. I would appreciate any assistance or guidance HP can provide.

Thank you.
