I have recently bought a HP Envy x360 Convertible-eu0xxx computer. It's pretty punchy, but the default battery life is not - about 4 hours before it needs re-charging. Is that normal (compares badly with the 7 year old Macbook Air the notebook replaces)?
I have set the battery setting s to:
Battery saver: turn on now
Lower screen brightness when using battery saver: on
Power mode: Best power efficiency (was Balanced)
I'd be grateful for any further suggestions.

4 or 5 hrs is normal. You can't compare your machine with battery life between charge with a MacBook

Thanks. I accept your expert knowledge- though the answer is a bit of an eye opener. Not having used any other lap top but the Macbook for 7 years. I'd got to assume its battery life was normal. Happy with the Envy apart from that (though back lit keys would be nice when typing in low light).
Would have given you kudos but cannot figure out where the icon is - I expect It's a case of I have eyes but I cannot see,
