Common problems for Battery
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about: Battery Reports, Hold a charge, Test and Calibrating Battery . Check out this link: Is your notebook plugged in and not charging?

My HP Envy will not charge above around 30% and is super sluggish. My internet crashes regularly. Any ideas? I just read somewhere that if a laptop is more than a year old, it may need to be replaced. Who the heck can replace a laptop every year?!? I bought a better machine for longevity.

Welcome to the HP User Community.

If the computer is more than a year old, it might need a new battery.

Things that are the Battery

All batteries die, some do so quietly and some first inflate and then fail.

"Fat" Battery / Bloated Battery / Swollen Battery – Sealed / Internal Battery

  • Swollen battery might be hiding OR there might be evidence that the battery has inflated.  For example, notebook case warps or won’t close, touch-pad stops working, “odd” bulging near the keyboard.

  • If the battery is in a swollen or bloated condition, the battery must be removed from the computer and replaced.  There are no other remedies, tests, or useful options.
