I will be travelling to west Africa for the Peace Corps for the next two years. Voltage and amperage are the moon to me, but I was hearing on one of our pre-departure calls that we will need "converters" and "adapters" (I heard both, but we were at the end of the call and no one clarified what any of that meant).

I already assumed I would need adapters for the different outlet styles, but do I need something regarding different voltage to charge my laptop without frying the battery?

Thank you

You can use 99.99% today notebooks around the world (110V to 230V or 240V) without converters, all you need is an adapter (for the different outlet styles) which you can buy at airports or tourists shops.  For example: I used the following adapter for machines from the US

                    USA to Australia adapter

My permanent solution when I travel to the US, VietNam or Japan. I use a black tape to keep it safe.
