i am not even sure if I am on the right board to be asking this question but would like to ask if anyone has experienced a lower case cracking ... not near the hinges but near mid-centre front and also left side.  The first one happened two days before the second one.  I have owned my laptop for just over 2 years, and am a very light user.  I have never taken it out of my home or dropped or otherwise caused damage to it.  I went to pick it up while using it in bed one day, gripping the case on the right side with my right hand and lifting it when I heard a "knack/crack" type sound and noticed the actual keyboard part had lifted out of the case at the far right front corner area.  I gently pushed the keyboard back into the case, and while inspecting the case I saw a small crack.  Two days later pretty much the same thing happened causing the second, slightly larger, crack.  My laptop was built in australia but I live in new zealand, however, the latter country's HP office has been outrageous in responding to my complaint that the case should not have cracked, and, that they need to replace it.  I had to return my laptop soon after buying it because the battery was discharging very quickly with use of the laptop, and they apparently replaced it but the problem persisted after I got the supposedly repaired machine back.  I was sick at the time, waiting for major surgery, and could n't be bothered to fight HP about this problem which persists, and has worsened.  What can I do get HP to assist me with replacing the cracked lower case without charge ... which I feel would be very unfair.
