Hello,

I want to upgrade my RAM to 8GB, but am not sure on compatibility issues. My current RAM specs are:

Memory – HP Notebook - 15-db0011dx

4 GB

  • Amount: 4 GB – single slot (upgradable to 8 GB)
  • Speed: ???
  • Type: DDR4-1866 SDRAM

I can't seem to locate an 8GB DDR4-1866 SDRAM. Does anyone know what would be compatible for an upgrade? Also, does single or dual rank matter? If you need more info, let me know.

It is not 1866 memory it is DDR4-2400 which the system has "bridged" i.e. downclocked to 1866 speed. 

 

Manual

 

Start on p. 36 for bottom cover removal to access memory slots. 

 

The specified memory module is:

 

Memory module, 4 GB 862397-855

 

single rank DDR4-2400 SO-DIMMsingle rank DDR4-2400 SO-DIMM

Hi Huffer,

I get it now, regarding it reflecting "downclock".

One more thing...does it matter if the 8GB replacement is single or dual rank? What would you recommend?
