My right hinge connecting the screen and keyboard together has broken. It cracked a couple weeks ago after normal use but completely broke when I opened the screen yesterday and will not close anymore. As the screen is open, I can no longer move the screen to get rid of glare, etc. without the screen cover popping open and me having to pop it close again.

I have tried using the virtual assistant to get a replacement part with no help there and searching the website for replacement parts with again no help.

My PC is out of warranty but I need to get this fixed as soon as possible because I am an online student and rely on my PC. Thanks!!

Hi@NatBurks,

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Apologies for all the inconvenience

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help,

I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue. This sounds like hardware related issue with the hinge assembly and in order to fix this issue,  your computer needs to be serviced.  As we have limited support boundaries in the support community as of now.

I would request you to reach out to our Support and our Support Engineers should be able to check the available service options in order to diagnose the computer physically.  HP Support can be reached by clicking on the following link:  www.hp.com/contacthp/

Please feel free to contact us here anytime you need any further assistance. Please click “Accept as Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution

I went to the link you shared and was able to find locations to bring my laptop to....however I live in Montana and all the available locations are in Idaho, Washington, and Utah. Is there another option to maybe ship the PC or does it have to be physically brought by the consumer?

Hi@NatBurks,

Unfortunately, there are no options to walk to the services center.
