HP OMEN Notebook - 15-5210nr
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My battery needed replaced and would only last 2-3 minutes without power supply.  It worked fine when plugged in.  After I replaced the battery the laptop does not now get any power.  It is completely dead.  I put the original battery back and the laptop is still dead, but now is dead even when using the power supply plugged in.  Could the new battery have shorted out the mainboard?  I tried holding down the power button for up to 1 minute but it made no difference.

I was careful with static electricity and plugging in the cable.

Very hard to say. Let me tell you a true/real story. My colleague with all professional tools and procedures, he did burn out an over 30,000 dollars I/O card when just pulling out a cable which was under another cable.

My suggestion: contact HP authorized service providers in your country/area and ask them to check that out for you.

We used to replace battery for notebooks in 30 seconds, now we have to spend more time and it can break the bank.

Regards.
