No a 2.5 inch SSD is the same size and shape externally and otherwise physically identical on the outside to a hard drive so fits in the same mounting hardware. Very different on the inside, however.

Here is the Service Manual:

Good aerial shot of the internals:

M.2 slot = red HDD = greenM.2 slot = red HDD = green

The only storage slots are noted above. There is a place to insert a memory card like you use in a camera on the left side. There is not a DVD drive bay you could use to add another hard drive. So right now all the practically available storage slots are in use by your hard drive and 256 gig PCIe/NVME M.2 disk.

Post back with any more questions and please accept as solution if this is the info you needed.

But can i put an m2 ssd on the HDD slot?

There is such a thing as an adapter board but there is no reason to do that. You can put a 2.5 inch SSD in that slot which is the same size and shape as a hard drive. Because it is a SATA slot even if you put an M.2 in it the speed would be exactly the same as a 2.5 inch SATA. So the extra cost for the adapter board is wasted...you gain nothing in terms of speed. Also the hard drive on that system is used just for storage and you do not gain much in terms of performance by using an SSD just to store music, documents and videos. The operating speed comes from the bootdisk and in this case you have one as fast as possible.

But do i need an adapter to put an SSD in that 2.5 hdd slot?
Thanks
