Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)
This question is about this product https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-pavilion-15-cs2000-laptop-pc/26122239/model/29100094 I am trying to upgrade storage number 2 which is a HDD to a Samsung 860 EVO which i have purchased from here https://www.amazon.in/Samsung-Internal-Solid-State-MZ-76E1T0BW/dp/B078DPCY3T/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=Sam... I initially planned to connect the Samsung 860 Evo to the laptop via a USB using this [ https://www.amazon.in/PiBOX-India-Adapter-Converter-ASM1153e/dp/B07KDKNT29/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=USB+t... ] , so that I can copy the files over using [ Samsung Data Migration ]. The problem i am facing is that , whenever I try to connect the SSD to the laptop via the USB cable , I keep here the hardware connected sound and the hardware disconnected sound in succession. The drive is also not recognized by the [ Create and Format Partition Tools in the control panel] nor is it also recognized by the Device Manger. I hear the connect and disconnect sound often. The solutions I tried was - 1. Upgraded by bios to this [ https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp95501-96000/sp95708.exe ] which I got from this page [ https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-pavilion-15-cs2000-laptop-pc/26122239/model/2910...] , After which I opened up the laptop after reading the manual and replaced the Toshiba with the Samsung SSD. When I did this and I booted up the laptop , I get a blank screen and i see the caps lock flicker [ 5 continuous and then 3 faster ones] which I understand there is a hardware problem. So when I replace the samsung SSD with the Original Toshiba HDD , The laptop is working fine. 2. After doing some research I understood that in some cases Windows 10 cannot recognize unformatted SSD { please note that the SSD is also not recognized by the Samsung Magician and Data Migration tool and I keep hearing the connect and disconnect sound in succession] since I cant connect it with the windows 10 machine even after doing the Bios Upgrade. I then connected the SSD to my old ASUS windows 8 laptop , there it was being seen but after many connect and disconnect sounds. I then used the Create partiion tool in Windows 8 , initialized the SSD , formatted it to NTFS with GPT and transferred some files successfully. I then took that SSD and tried to connect to my HP machine via the USB cable , and still I got the connect and disconnect sound and the drive is not recognized. It also the same when I open the laptop and replace storage 2 with the Samsung SSD. I suspect that the SSD i got was DOA , but that cant be the case since it is being recognized by the Windows 8 asus laptop. I need a solution.

@KayGulMumbai Greetings from the HP Community!

I suggest you follow the below steps to reinstall the drivers of the USB ports, once restarted it should refresh the drivers and fix the issue on its own:

  1. In Windows, search for and open Device Manager.

  2. Locate the USB 3.0 Root Hubs under Universal Serial Bus Controllers.

Figure : Locating the USB Root Hub

    Locating the USB Root Hub
  3. Right-click the USB 3.0 Root Hub, and click Uninstall.

If this doesn't do the trick, please check if the device works without making the "connect and disconnect" sound on any other device as you mentioned that it made that sound on your windows 8 asus as well, correct me If i'm wrong, that was a lot to read.
