HP Pavilion 15-cs3073cl
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Just recently purchased HP Pavilion 15-cs3073cl from Costco and want to know if I want to put in a 1 tb Intel 660P NVME M.3 drive in the unused slot and replace my HDD with a 1tb SSD as a data drive will my warranty be voided?  That's my first question.  I've done a fair amount of research on this topic and seen a number of responses in this community but I'd like some reassurance.  I'm looking at cloning the current HDD as a backup in case things don't work out but from what I've researched so far it looks very plausible.  I'd like some hand-holding if I can to get this done right.  I've been a mac user for quite a while and starting up this computer with windows 10 and all the Microsoft add-ons I find it quite a chore to do anything.  That's it for now and thank you .

Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.

HP does not recommend upgrading or downgrading hardware parts or software that is bundled with the product as It may affect the manufacturer's warranty and performance, however, you could change the configuration at your own discretion.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Hi Echo, sorry to be so late in responding.    If this is the written policy, which I assume it is, obviously gives HP any latitude to define anything I do to deny warranty.  I unfortunately understand and very disappointed in this position.  I was hoping this being a brand new computer with I feel are good specs (except for the HDD) would be reasonably fast.  I know this is subjective but it doesn't take much to lug this thing down when utilizing searches and downloads especially using the HDD.  What if I wanted to do a "clean" install of the Win 10 software only excluding the extra bloatware.  I then look at HP's response " HP does not recommend .... downgrading ...software that is "bundled" ....... as it may affect the manufacturer's warranty ......      I may be being a bit harsh but I'm looking for easy alternatives to get this computer to perform to its true potential.  I believe there are derivatives of this computer that have SSD's in place of the HDD and utilize the M.2 in this computer.  Can I have an HP source do these changes without HP voiding my warranty?  Is there room to make changes or is this a hard line enforcement.  Thanks,  Fred
