I am trying to do a clean reinstall of Windows 11 on my 15t-eg100 laptop after replacing a faulty SSD; 512 GB PCIe NVMe w/ Intel Optane Memory (P/N M14172-001). I have already attempted to install OS from a bootable usb drive. After entering the setup procedure  I get to a point where setup wants to know where to install windows, but no available drives are being displayed and the only option is to load a missing driver. I have gone to the HP driver support webpage and downloaded a file with supposed correct drivers for my laptop  model, however they all appear to be for a SATA SSD not a NVMe SSD. I went back into Windows setup and one by one attempted to install each driver that was supposedly compatible with my laptop. Only 2 of the 5 actually fully loaded and neither one provided my SSD to be recognized.

I need to get the correct driver for my NVMe  SSD so that setup will recognize it and run through the installation process.

You'll see the zipped IRST driver folder at the end of this reply.

Unzip the attached folder, extract the F6 folder that contains 10 files and copy the folder to the root directory of your Windows installation usb drive.

Connect the usb drive to the notebook and boot the system from the usb drive. When asked where to install Windows, click on Load Driver -> Browse -> the usb drive in the window that opens -> the F6 folder -> OK.

Multiple .inf driver files may be displayed. Check the box to display compatible drivers. Select one and click Next.

The storage drive may be displayed with unallocated space. Click Next to proceed the installation.

@Thomas_Fleming,

You need to supply Intel RST storage drivers to the Windows installer to detect the new SSD.

If your notebook came with Windows preinstalled, the best way to reinstall Windows is to use HP Cloud Recovery Tool which creates a bootable recovery usb drive that installs Windows and drivers including IRST drivers.

Below is the HP document that explains how to use the recovery tool, with the cloud recovery tool download link included.

HP Consumer PCs - Using the HP Cloud Recovery Tool in Windows 11 and 10 | HP® Support

When you use another PC to run the recovery software, you will be prompted to provide the full product number (ProdID), which you can find on the bottom cover of your notebook.

If your notebook didn't come with Windows from factory or you prefer to clean install Windows, let us know and we'll show you how to install IRST drivers.

I believe the bootable Windows usb disk I am using was created using the HP Cloud Recovery Tool, however I can't be certain as it was several years ago. Either way it is not installing required SSD Driver to complete the clean Windows 11 install.

I currently have no way to create a new bootable Windows recovery usb disk as my primary laptop with Windows 11 64-bit is currently what I am trying to recover. My backup laptop is an older HP Pavilion DV6700 running Windows 7 32-bit.

If I could get a copy of the correct driver for my SSD I could manually install it when prompted and then hopefully continue the Windows 11 installation process.

Latest update on reinstalling WIN 11 on my replacement NVMe SSD.

While waiting for further advice on troubleshooting I contacted one of my neighbors  and used his desktop PC,    (a DELL running WIN 11 64 bit), to create a new bootable HP Recovery usb disk from the HP Cloud Recovery Tool.

It took approx 1 1/2 hours but completed without error. A day later I attempted a factory reinstall of all the drivers and software using the HP Recovery usb. It started out fine, preparing the drive, formatted and partitioned the drive. Then it moved on to installing the software. Ran for about an hour and got approx 50% complete before it encountered an error and quit. Ran it a second time with the same results. But at least it proved that the SSD driver was being installed and the new SSD was working.

Next thing I did was swap out the HP Recovery usb with the bootable WIN 11 Recovery usb drive I already had, which I now realized was created off the Microsoft support website. It booted up and ran as it had previously done and took me to the point where I needed to specify and load a driver for the SSD. I had already added the 2 F6 drivers you emailed to me to this usb, I selected the first one (both were displayed) and it actually loaded and displayed the current SSD with all the drives and partitions. I then deleted all partition info for all existing partitions and ended up with one large un-allocated drive and one one small un-allocated drive, I selected the large drive to install windows on and began the install process. The process ran all the way to completion without error and I ended up with a clean reinstall of Windows 11 (23H2) without all the garbage software and bloatware that came from the HP factory which is really where I wanted to be. Since then I have been running Windows Update and have gone from 23H2 to 24H2 to 25H2 along with all other associated security updates and driver updates etc. as well as re-installing other required software, printer, antivirus, browser etc.

Thanks for the .zip file with the F6 SSD drivers. It was just what I needed.

As a side note, now that this laptop is back up and running I think I might create a new HP Recovery usb drive using the HP Cloud Recovery Tool this time using this laptop and see if it will run through without faulting out. But that is a project for another day if at all.

Thanks again

You are welcome. Glad that your laptop is back up and running again.

Apparently, HP withdraws support for HP Cloud Recovery Tool when notebooks reach an age of 5 years, so keep that in mind as your model seems to have been manufactured in around 2022.
