Hello there, I've been using my HP Pavilion 17-g105nl for three years and a half now, and it needs an upgrade.
Link to the model: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-pavilion-17-g100-notebook-pc-series/8499304/model/10098473
My version has 1 TB HDD and 8 GB DDR3 RAM. I would like to upgrade both of those to a 500 GB SSD and 16 GB DDR3. Is that possible?
Also, I would like to know if CPU and dedicated GPU (Intel i5-6200U and NVidia GT 940M) are soldered to the motherboard or not, and if there is any chance to upgrade those too.
Thanks a lot!

Here is the Service Manual:
This Manual does not specifically refer to your model but is the one HP has assigned to it. The only difference with your model is a 6th gen CPU instead of 5th. All else is the same.
Good news first. Yes your maximum memory is 2 x 8 gig DDR3L-1600 SO-DIMM so 16 gigs. You can put a 2.5 inch SATA SSD in place of the hard drive.
Now the bad. There is no M.2 "gumstick" SSD slot. The processor and the video are soldered to the motherboard. The 940M video is the top of the mark so no upgrade is possible and to get a better CPU would take a different motherboard.
Post back with any more questions and please accept as solution if this is the info you needed.

I would've bought a new motherboard if there was an option to upgrade both CPU and GPU, but since the 940M is the best card possible I'm leaving it as it is and upgrading only RAM and drive.
Thanks a lot for the quick answer!
