HP Pavilion Power Laptop 15-cb0xx - upgrade possibilities

HP Recommended
HP Pavilion Power Laptop 15-cb0xx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Goodmorning community,

let me start of by saying english is not my first languance so please dont get mad over typing mistakes.

My laptop:

Name: HP Pavilion Power Laptop 15-cb0xx

Windows 10 Home 64 bits Versie: 18363.1379

Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7700HQ CPU @ 2.80GHz

RAM: 8GB Micron 2400MHz

Systemcard: 836B 46.24

Videocard1: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050

videocard 2: Citrix Indirect Display Adapter

videocard 3: Intel(R) HD Graphics 630

SSD: 250 gb

I like gaming, i have been for many years. I know this is a laptop so gaming wise it will never compare to a computer/pc. I tried alot of stuff on the internet and i might has given me some fps but for most games like Apex legends / Warzone  i get a average of only 40-60 FPS with laggs and for a shooter that is kinda bad.

so i have been reading into GB ram right now it hold a 8 gb slot im stil not sure but i think my laptop has 2 available slots and with a max of 16gb per slot:

so my question is:

Do i buy 2: (Crucial 16 gb 2400MHz DDR4 SODIMM ) and remove the 8gb one (get 32gb?)

Do i buy 1: (Crucial 16 gb 2400MHz DDR4 SODIMM ) and remove the 8gb one / or add it to? ( get 16gb / 24?)

Do i buy 1: (Crucial  8 gb 2400MHz DDR4 SODIMM) and add it next to the other 8gb slot ( get 16)

so please tell me what is possible and what is best and can i have a 16gb next to a 8 gb ? and will this improve my fps in games?

other really quick question:

I have a 250 gb ssd it is 235/250gb full, will removing space from here help aswell or just help with how quickly the pc starts?

Those are my questions i hope you can tell me what to do.

Thank you for your time

In theory your notebook will support 2 x 16 GB of DDR4-1200 memory because it has the  i7-7700HQ CPU.

However, chapter 1 of the service manual indicates the max memory is 2 x 8 GB.

Adding additional memory may improve your gaming experience somewhat, but the main factor in gaming performance is the graphics adapter.

I recommend you install memory in matching capacities so that it runs in the higher performing dual channel mode.

Adding memory of different capacities or having one memory slot empty, causes the memory to run in the lower performing single channel mode.

If you want to experiment with adding the 16 GB chip to the 8 GB chip even though the manual indicates that 2 x 8 GB is the max, you can do that, and then someday add the second 16 GB chip after removing the 8 GB chip.

I definitely recommend you delete unnecessary files from your notebook's SSD for best performance.

Run the disk cleanup utility and when the window opens, click on the Cleanup system files button.

The utility will run again and this time when the window opens you can check all of the boxes to delete files.

You will be surprised at how many GB of files you can delete.

Another useful free utility to clean up files is the Wise Disk Cleaner.  I use this weekly to keep my SSD free from junk files.

These would be compatible memory chips for your notebook...
