Pavilion 14-al106naExample: Pavilion 65XX
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi, I have recently bought a HP Pavilion 14-al106na laptop which has a problem starting up.

The power light is on, but when I press the start key:

The start button lights up for less than 2 second

And, the button on the disk light button briefly comes on (for a second).

I currently don’t have a disk drive (the laptop didn’t come with one), but I assumed that even when starting the laptop without a disk it should boot directly to BIOS.

I had been told the problem existed even with the disc connected.

I tried disconnected the battery but this has no effect.

Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

Many thanks.

Can I check please:

Can I start the diagnostics (via USB) even though I can’t even start BIOS?

When I try and start the laptop, the disk light flashes (before I can even start the BIOS, and even though I don’t have an actual disk). So what does the disk light flashing indicate please?

Cheers!

@WinchesterStole,

You can try running the diagnostics from a USB drive however, as you have mentioned that the computer is not booting to BIOS as well the chances of running diagnostics are very minimal.

I recommend you contact support as this looks like a hardware issue.

Here is how you can get in touch with support.

1)Click on this link – www.hp.com/contacthp/

2)Select the product type.

3)Enter the serial number of your device or select let HP detect your product option.

4)Select the country from the drop-down.

5)You should see the HP phone support number or Chat option listed.

Cheers!

Thanks. I am trying to contact support.

I can't find the serial number - it doesn't look to be on the bottom of the case? Any ideas where I can find the serial number please?

Cheers
