HP Pavilion 15-ab253cl
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi!  I have an HP Pavilion 15-ab253cl with only an external mouse and keyboard plugged into it.  The laptop has a battery and is connected to power.  The power light where power is connected is orange, which I understand means "charging."  When I press the power on button, the power on button turns white and the orange light goes off.  The laptop does not start up.  Nothing happens.  I tried removing the battery, pressing the power button for 30 seconds, putting the battery back in, connecting to power again, and pushing the power on button, but again, nothing happened.   The laptop was working yesterday and I put it in sleep mode when I was done for the day yesterday.  I don't believe this was the issue, but Windows had an update yesterday.  The laptop was working after the update.  I am at a loss.  I would greatly appreciate any assistance.

Thank you very much for responding!  I followed the instructions, but when I pressed the power button nothing happened.  The laptop did not turn on.  Could I have a power port issue?  I tried a new battery, but that did not work as well.  Thank you again!

Let's do a CMOS reset:

Hard Reset:

1) Shutdown the computer.

2) Unplug all the Adapter and peripherals connected.

3) Remove the Battery. ( not for Built-in Battery computer )

4) Press and hold down the power button for 15 to 20 seconds.

5) Plug-in the Adapter and put the Battery back into the computer if it's a (removable battery)

6) Try to turn on the computer and check, If the issue persists continue next step

After doing the hard reset --> Hold the Windows + V + Power button --> Wait for 3 seconds and release power button while still holding Windows + V for another 5 seconds or till you hear beeps.

Let me know if this helps.
